The Female Orgasm

Female orgasm has always been an interesting and fascinating subject. Unlike male orgasms, visible by the ejaculation of semen, female orgasms lack evident signals, such as female ejaculation , that prove the obtaining of an orgasm. This is perhaps why the female orgasm has been so mysterious for men and women.

The Truth

We can begin by saying that a similar pattern for female orgasms does not exist. Different women experience different sensations, intensity and duration. It is difficult then to really describe female orgasms. Nevertheless, Masters and Johnson describe a female orgasm as 4 stages in the cycle of sexual response of the woman. These 4 stages have been defined as: excitation, plateau, orgasm and resolution. It is important to mention that these stages do not have a noticeable beginning or end. Sexual arousal and response is a continuous process, and in the woman, this sexual response cycle generally takes about 15 minutes, unlike the man who usually arrives at orgasm between 3 and 5 minutes. It is because of this misunderstanding or lack of knowledge that many women do not manage to achieve orgasm during intercourse.

Stage One

The first stage, excitation or arousal, can last only minutes or several hours after initiation of erotic stimulation. Generally, this phase begins 10-30 seconds after stimulation. The woman physically experiences increased lubrications, expansion and growth of the vagina, the swelling of the greater and smaller lips of the vagina, clitoris and sines. In addition, there is an acceleration of the beats of the heart, the arterial pressure and the breathing.

Stage Two

In the second phase, or the plateau, the changes experienced in the excitation stage are accentuated. The vaginal lips are engorged and changed slightly in color. In addition, the vaginal walls fill with blood and the vaginal orifice grows. The clitoris fills with blood and becomes turgid. Like in the first stage, the beats of the heart and the pulse continue accelerating itself. In addition, the muscle of the thighs, hips, hands, and rumps are tightened. In this phase, a reddening of the skin can occur, that generally occurs in stomach, chests, shoulders or face.

Stage Three

The third phase, the one of orgasm, is the climax stage of the cycle, and is generally the short stage, lasting only seconds. In this stage, the woman experiences a series of involuntary muscular contractions in the vagina, uterus and/or rectum, which are the epicenters. The number and duration of these contractions depend on each woman. In this stage, the speed of breathing, pulse and arterial pressure arrive at there maximum acceleration. The muscular tension also arrives at its highest point, accompanied generally by muscular reflections in the hands and feet.

Stage Four

The fourth phase, the one of resolution is characterized by the return to a rest state. This phase can last anywhere from 5-60 minutes. In this phase, the uterus and clitoris return to their normal positions, as relaxation of the muscles happen. The reddening of the skin and the swelling of certain parts disappears. During this phase, some women can respond quickly to additional stimulation, resulting in what is called multiple orgasms. Unlike a man, it is important to mention that orgasm in a woman, is a behavior that is learned and not something that one is born knowing. To obtain ones first orgasm is a process that requires practice and much patience. Unlike the men, who tend to masturbate themselves from very young, the women begins to experience their sexuality much later in life. This makes obtaining an orgasm difficult in many cases.

Some Advice for Men

It is also important to remember that the majority of woman need the clitoris stimulated directly to be able to arrive at orgasm. That is to say, that penile penetration by itself is not enough to cause a woman to reach orgasm. In many cases during the vaginal penetration, the clitoris does not receive the necessary stimulation. For that reason it is necessary to resort to the manual, oral stimulation, or other positions that provide direct and consistent stimulation to the clitoris.

Finally, it is very important that the vagina be well lubricated, as well as the stimulation of the clitoris. A vagina that is not lubricated sufficiently will result in a painful penetration, blocking the obtaining of pleasure and, therefore, preventing the woman from reaching orgasm. For that reason it is very important that previous to the penetration, during the phase of excitation, the woman receives the sufficient erotic stimulus to be able to lubricate the vagina and that the vagina expands and grows to receive the penis. A good rule to follow is that the woman dictates when penetration must happen, so that she makes sure to be ready to receive the penis. The secret to obtaining the greatest pleasure in a sexual relation is to know what happens in our body, and to openly communicate that to your partner.

Women have been reluctant to speak to their health care professionals regarding such an intimate subject, but those who are looking for a discrete, safe and effective way to increase not only their sexual desire but their sexual response are trying Clitoria, made for a lady who expects to maintain her sexuality at every age.

Enhanced orgasms can be made possible by increasing the blood supply to the clitoris, thus causing it to enlarge and become more sensitive.
